Tewksbury Public Schools Closed Tuesday

Schools will be closed due to the winter storm passing through Massachusetts.

Tell the kids they can roll over and go back to sleep: Tewksbury Public Schools will be closed today, Tuesday, March 19 due to the winter storm. The latest National Weather Service forecast for Tewksbury calls for snow before noon, then snow and sleet between noon and 1 p.m., then rain and snow after 1 p.m. A total daytime snow and sleet accumulation of 3 to 5 inches is possible, with a high temperature near 37.

Tewksbury Townwide Auction a Big Success

Event raised over $30,000 for Tewksbury Schools.

(Editor's Note: The following information was suubmitted by the Tewksbury Education Foundation.) The first Tewksbury Education Foundation School Wide Auction was held at the Tewksbury Country Club on November 15, 2012 from 7-11 pm.  The auction was the inaugural event for the recently established Tewksbury Education Foundation.  The collaborative effort on the part of the community, the organizational work of the auction committee, the creative talents of the school staff, the leadership of the school administration and school committee and the generosity of families, friends, and numerous businesses resulted in raising over $30,000.00.  The funds generated through the auction will be utilized for enhancing technology for all schools.  The…

Tewksbury Schools Closed Tuesday After Sandy

All extracurriculars are also cancelled as the town cleans up after "Frankenstorm" called Sandy swept through on Monday.

Here's a quick morning briefing about the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy in Tewksbury. Stay tuned to Tewksbury Patch today for more about yesterday's storm: Schools closed: Tewksbury Public Schools are closed on Tuesday, Oct. 30. All extracurriculars are also cancelled. Power outages: As of 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, National Grid's website reported that 2,082 customers in Tewksbury were without power—approximately 16.7 percent of the National Grid customers in town. There was no estimated restoration time listed as of 12:30 a.m. More than 2,300 customers were without power at 7:30 p.m. yesterday, with the biggest problem shouldered by those living on Dirlam Circle, who were cut off from the rest of the town around 5 p.m. when a tree came …

Per Capita Education Spending: How Does Tewksbury Compare?

A look at where Tewksbury ranks compared to 24 other communities in Eastern Mass.

As the school year begins, parents will hear about new investments in their local school system or, sometimes, cuts to teachers and budgets. But how much does Tewksbury spend on education for each person in town—in financial terms, its per capita education spending? The Pioneer Institute, a Massachusetts public policy research organization, recently released a spreadsheet tool to accompany its new handbook, "Guide to Sound Fiscal Management for Municipalities." The spreadsheet tool allows anyone to compare how much a city or town spends on various services, and how much the city or town spends per capita. Patch used the tool to compare 25 cities and towns in the area on per capita education spending, with the Pioneer Institute using …
