Redmen Fall to Wilmington on Last Minute Goal

The Wildcats scored with 1:38 to play in the third period to earn a 3-2 boys hockey win over Tewksbury.

The Tewksbury boys hockey team lost the game it looks forward to play all year. But the Redmen know that if they hope to return to the state championship game, there's a chance they may get the opportunity for revenge. Wilmington used a goal with 1:38 left in the game to earn a 3-2 victory on Wednesday night. The game was the final one of the season for Tewksbury, which will find out its playoff position this weekend. The Wildcats are widely considered the favorites to repeat in Division 2 this year, though the Redmen could have a say in that if the teams cross paths in the bracket. “Tewksbury-Wilmington has a lot of history to it. Redmen Seek Revenge in Heavyweight Hockey Battle

Tewksbury's boys hockey team visits Wilmington in the latest version of the heated rivalry game.

Wednesday is one of the games hockey fans in the area look forward to all season long.  Tewksbury travels to Wilmington's Ristuccia Arena for the annual version of a heated rivalry. Puck drops at 8 p.m. between the heavyweight programs, and Patch will be there providing updates throughout the game. VIDEO: The Sights and Sounds of a Turkey Bowl Win

We've got video coverage from Wilmington, where the Tewksbury football team earned a Thanksgiving Day victory over their rivals.

It wasn't perfect, but it was still a win. Tewksbury rolled over rival Wilmington on Thursday in their final tuneup before the postseason begins against Reading. See what both coaches had to say, and see some of the sights and sounds from another Thanksgiving Day rivalry game.

Tewksbury dominated rival Wilmington and went on to an 18-6 Turkey Bowl win.

Before they headed to their Thanksgiving Day dinners, the Tewksbury footbal team chowed down on a heaping plate of Wildcat. The Redmen dominated their annual Turkey Bowl tilt against Wilmington, earning an 18-6 victory on Thursday. Eddie Matovu got the ball rolling when he cracked the scoreboard on a five-yard dash with 6:19 to play in the first quarter. With four seconds left in the first half, quarterback Johnny Aylward opened the game up a bit more with a 40-yard dash on a drive that began with a fumble recovery by captain Christian Taylor. Then with 3:51 to go in the third quarter, James Sullivan put the game out of reach when he bruised ahead for a one-yard score, giving his team an 18-0 lead.

Redmen Seek Déjà Vu After Latest Wildcat Loss [VIDEO]

Boys hockey falls to rival Wilmington for second straight year with 3-1 loss on Wednesday.

Last year, the Wilmington boys hockey team demolished Tewksbury, 6-0, in the annual rivalry game. The Redmen can only hope that this year's loss will have similar results. After the setback to the Wildcats a season ago, the locals went on to a state championship win. Wilmington won again on Wednesday night, closing out the regular season with a 3-1 victory at the Breakaway Ice Center. "I think we were doing pretty well up until this game, and now this is a bit of an obstacle on the way in to the playoffs," said Tewksbury head coach Derek Doherty.
