Preparations being made for annual Valentine's Dance.
The Silvertones will hold its first dance of the New Year this Friday, January 18th from 7:00 to 10:00 PM. Tickets are available at the door at $10 per person. The public is welcomed. The Senior Center will be closed next Monday, January 21st, in recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. A happy and safe holiday is wished to all. Next Tuesday, January 22nd, Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley will conduct Free Memory Screenings from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. This event is free and the results of the screenings are immediately shared with you. The 15 minute screenings are conducted by ESMV. They true love is like a fine wine -- it grows better with age. But that expression really doesn't do justice to a love that joins together two individuals as one flesh over the course of a lifetime. In truth, true love is also like shoe leather, growing tougher and stronger over the years. And it's a lot like clay -- molded into shape with care but not reaching its true potential until be tested by the fires of life. A Valentine's Dance at the Senior Center on Feb. 12 attracted scores of local couples, including nearly 30 who had been together for more than 50 years. Seven of those couples were honored during the dance, receiving gifts and citations from the State Legislature, presented by state Rep. Jim Miceli.

Valentine's Dance tonight at 7 p.m.
The Friends and COA will hold a Valentine Dance tonight (Feb. 10) from 7-10:30 PM. Tickets are available at the door. Entertainment will be provided by the Silver Tones. Our AARP Volunteer Tax Assistants have begun helping Senior Citizens with their tax returns. To sign up for an appointment, one may drop by the Senior Center or call 978-640-4480 to place his/her name on the sign-up sheet at the front desk. The Director will then call those on the list to arrange an appointment time. Please note that the Tax Assistants DO NOT, however, help prepare Schedule C, Schedule E or complicated/lengthy Scheduled D forms or other specialized forms. I think that the memory screening is an excellent idea. Unfortunately, I am seeing some of my peers showing signs of some memory loss. Thanks for running this program.   more ›
