WW2 Veteran formerly of Tewksbury
Thomas J. Byron Jr., age 84, a former resident of Tewksbury, died Thursday, December 6, at Lowell General Saints Campus in Lowell following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Beatrice M. (Butler) Byron, who died in 2004. He was born in Cambridge, October 4, 1928, one of four children of the late Samuel and Catherine (Turnbull) Byron. He was raised in Somerville, and enlisted into the Navy at the end of WW2. He served along the east coast aboard the USS Weatherley. He later re-enlisted into the U.S. Army Reserves during the Korean War. He lived in Tewksbury from 1962 where he and his wife raised their family, and retired to Pelham, NH, in 1982. He worked as a foreman at American Builtrite Company in East Cambridge. He …

The dream of home ownership for a soldier stationed in Afghanistan is alive and well after police revovered his stolen jet ski. Fox 25 is reporting that the jet ski, stolen from off a lawn in front of a home on Chelmsford last week, was located on Friday in a Tewksbury parking lot at 9 Sydney St. by Tewksbury Police. According to the report, the vehicle appeared to have been abandoned there. According to Fox 25, the 2007 Bombardier SeaDoo RXT is owned by 26-year-old Brian Ubele, an Army lieutenant, stationed in Afghanistan since February. It was being stored at the home of his sister, Amy Ubele Brown. She reported it stolen last weekend. There was some minor damage to the watercraft and its trailer but otherwise it appeared to be in good …

Thousands line Route 38 to celebrate Memorial Day in Tewksbury.
What a day for a parade! On a sunny Monday afternoon, the town of Tewksbury took to the streets with its annual Memorial Day Parade. Soldiers, past and present, marched alongside Tewksbury's Town Clerk, Denise Graffeo, and US Senator for Massachusetts, Scott Brown, and the Tewksbury Police and Fire Departments. "It's a great way to start the summer," says Tewksbury resident Liane Daigle. Many veterans watched from the side walk as the parade made it's way along the two mile parade route from Pleasant and Main to the Tewksbury Country Club.
