Town turns out to honor local vets on Tewksbury Commons.

Tewksbury observed Veterans Day with a ceremony on the Town Common with the high school marching band. Airforce Major Paul McArtor of Whipple Road served as the guest speaker. Tewksbury Veterans Agent Jim Williams served as master of ceremonies for the event.

Veterans Day Ceremony 2012 was held at Tewksbury Memorial High School’s Gymnasium at 320 Pleasant Street.

Tewksbury High School held its annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Friday, Nov. 9 in the new school's gymnasium. As always, the ceremony featured stirring musical performances, including four service songs performed by the TMHS faculty. Among the speakers were two TMHS seniors who will be heading into the military after graduation. They spoke of the reasons behind their decision. A powerful speech was delivered by School Committee member Dennis Francis, the text of which is attached to this story as a PDF document.

Mahoney's Kicks Off Annual Trees For Troops Program

A great way to show appreciate for the sacrifices made by the men and women of the military and their families.

Starting this Veteran’s Day, November 11, show your support and appreciation to an active member and their family, by donating a Christmas tree through the “Trees for Troops” program. Mahoney’s Garden Centers is again the host of the Trees for Troops program in Massachusetts. Tewksbury To Honor Veterans on Sunday, Nov. 11

Ceremony to take place at 11 a.m. on the Town Common.

Tewksbury will be observe Veterans Day on Sunday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. on the Town Common. Tewksbury Veterans Agent Jim Williams will serve as master of ceremonies for the event. All veterans and families and residents are invited to attend the annual ceremony. The ceremony is an opportunity to "salute those who have served to keep this country the great country it is, to honor those who have sacrificed so much and pay tribute to the spirit which moves them to do what they do for us," said Williams. The guest speaker this year will be Major Paul McArtor, USAF. In addition, anyone attending is asked to bring at least one non-perishable item to the ceremony. All items will be collected and donated to the Tewksbury Food Pantry.

Tewksbury High Veterans Day Ceremony Set for Friday, Nov. 9

Ceremony to take place in the school gymnasium.

(Editor's Note: The following information was submitted by the administration of Tewksbury High.) Tewksbury Memorial High School will be honoring our Veterans at our annual Veteran’s Day Ceremony.  Local Veterans will be recognized as well as several of our faculty who have served our country.  There will be special musical tributes performed for our Veterans played by the Tewksbury Memorial High School Band under the direction of Mr. Andrew Walsh and patriotic songs sung by our TMHS Faculty Choir. Several of our auditioning students were also chosen to sing solos at the ceremony.  Our own faculty member, Ms. Susan Barnett will be playing the bagpipes.  Students who were selected in our essay contest will be reading their essays at the …

LETTER: Veterans Day Celebration Was Truly A Community Effort

To the Editor:  On behalf of the Friends of the Tewksbury Patriotic Activities Committee, I would like to thank all of those (listed below) who donated raffles to our Veterans Day Celebration, which was held on November 18, 2011 at the Tewksbury Country Club.  In addition, I would like to thank the Tewksbury Fire Department Color Guard for presenting the colors during a tribute our WWII Veterans of Tewksbury.  Finally, I would like to thank all of the hard working members of the Friends of the PAC and most especially Karen Hodgson, Diane Reppucci, Tania Sullivan and Ann Gerry who did a wonderful job in setting up and presenting all of the raffle items. Tewksbury Resident Accepts Donation On Behalf Of USO

Dunkin' Donuts Baskin Robbins donates $1,000

(Editor's note: The following information was submitted by the Dunkin' Donuts/Baskin Robbins Foundation.) A Tewksbury resident and Boston USO representative, Penny Stocki, recently accepted a $1,000 donation on behalf of the Boston USO center.  The Dunkin’ Donuts & Baskin-Robbins Community Foundation (DDBRCF) donated $1,000 to the Boston USO center in honor of Veterans Day to help support the center’s efforts in providing morale, welfare and recreation-type services to troops and their families.
