Home broken into while family was at wake.
A Billerica man and a Tewksbury woman have been arrested and charged in connection with the burglary of the home of a grieving family. Michael Shannon, 19, of 33 Devonshire Drive, Billerica and Julia Didonato, 20, of 15 Oakland Ave, Tewksbury are each charged with receiving stolen property with a value in excess of $250. They are charged in connection with a burglary that took place on Dec. 12 at 117 Elm St., Tewksbury. The home is the residence of the Fleury family and the crime took place while the family was attending the wake for Wayne Fleury. Friends rally to help his family during tough times.
When Wayne Fleury passed away suddenly on Dec. 7, 2012 he left family and friends behind in shock and sadness. Fleury had been diagnosed with colon cancer less than three weeks before his death and, frankly, nobody expected him to lose his battle so quickly. As his wife Laura Fleury explained, “Never in our wildest dreams did we think that Wayne wasn’t going to make it through this.” Wayne Fleury truly loved life and it was hard for anyone to imagine that his had ended at only forty eight years of age. “He was so optimistic and positive after his diagnoses,” Laura said. “He didn’t want to look at the downside. Cover charge from show Saturday night will be donated to the Fleury family.
A Tewksbury family, already reeling from the untimely death of their husband and father, received another jolt when they returned home after his wake Tuesday night. Their home had been burglarized. Tewksbury Police are investigating the break-in at 117 Elm St., a home Wayne Fleury had shared with his wife Laura and their children. Wayne, 48, died on Dec. 7, just three weeks after being diagnosed with colon cancer. The wake, attended by hundreds of mourners, took place Tuesday evening at the Tewksbury Funeral Home on Main Street. Laura Fleury returned home to find her home ransacked and many items of value, both monetary and sentimental, gone. Wayne P. Fleury, age 48, a popular member of a large well known family of musicians, died unexpectedly Friday morning, December 7, at the Lowell General Hospital, after being diagnosed with Colon Cancer less than three weeks ago. He was the beloved husband of Laura A. (Lombardo) Fleury, with whom he had celebrated a 22nd wedding anniversary this past November 17th. He was born in Lowell, August 23, 1964, one of four children of Henry “Hank” Fleury of Haverhill, and the late Patricia (Sheehan) Fleury. He was a lifelong resident of Tewksbury. He attended Tewksbury schools, and graduated from Shawsheen Valley Technical Vocational High School with the Class of 1982. He was a loving husband and a “stay at home father,” who took on jobs on …
