News Nearby: Man Revived After Heart Attack At Bruins Practice

Each week we take a look at the stories making headlines in neighboring Patch towns.

Man Revived During Bruins Practice in Wilmington Terry Gardner was at Ristuccia Arena with a few of his friends to watch the Boston Bruins take the ice for practice. But he was hard at work before long. Gardner was among the group of on and off duty emergency personnel who saved the life of a man who had a cardiac episode in the stands on Thursday morning. Bruins players, who had just taken the ice in Wilmington, took a knee along the boards in front of the benches and watch as several professionally trained first responders rushed into the stands and used a defibrillator to shock the man back to consciousness. Patch Readers Not Pleased About HomeGoods Move To Westford

Readers especially concerned about another high-profile retail vacancy.

Local reaction was swift and nearly universal when Tewksbury Patch broke the news that HomeGoods would be closing its Tewksbury store by Feb. 1 and relocating to Westford. Some readers were upset that, as shoppers, they were losing a favorite location to pickup home furnishings and decor. Other readers took the viewpoint of taxpayers and were diappointed another business was moving out of town and another highly visible Route 38 vacancy was being created. HomeGoods Shutting Down Tewksbury Store, Relocating

Store begins sell-off of stock.

HomeGoods, an anchor of the Oakdale Mall, will be shutting down its Tewksbury location by the end of the month and relocating to Westford. On Friday, shoppers were greeted with a huge sign announcing that the store was moving and a 25 percent off sale on all merchandise. HomeGoods specializes in home furnishings and decor. Friday afternoon, company officials confirmed that the Tewksbury store at 1900 Main St. will be re-locating to Westford, alongside a new Marshalls. Both stores are owned by parent company TJX Companies. According to Doreen Thompson, vice president, Corporate Communications for TJX, the Tewksbury location will close no later than Feb. 1.
