Will Tewksbury Get Much Snow From This Storm?

A long-duration storm is knocking on the door, but most local meteorologists expect snowfall in the Merrimack Valley to be limited.

The Merrimack Valley in for some wet weather Wednesday through Friday, according to local forecasts, but don't get out your snow shovels yet. For Boston, the local weather teams aren't predicting very much snow. Instead, expect a lot of rain and maybe some heavy slushy snow in spots. The Merrimack Valley, on the other hand, appears to be due for 3-5 inches of heavy wet snow. Flooding may become an issue in some areas, especially if it turns to rain. Here are the latest forecasts from the local television news weather teams. All totals were updated Wednesday morning. WHDH (7 News): 3-5 inches WLVI (NewsCenter 5): 1-2 inches along the coast, six inches or more inland WBZ (CBS Local): 2-4 inches WFXT (MyFox Boston): 3-5 inches NECN: 3-5 …

Stream of Storms This Week Will be 'Mainly Rain'

There will be several storms moving across the area all week that are expected to all bring rain to Tewksbury.

The light coating of white we saw on the ground Sunday afternoon is likely all the snow we’ll see as part of several storms that will move across Tewksbury this week, according to the National Weather Service. The greatest chance of snow will come to the northwest of Boston. On Monday night into Tuesday, the next storm will bring “mainly rain” to the area, the weather service said. Then on Tuesday night into Wednesday northwest winds could really pick up. Winds during that time could prompt a wind advisory, the weather service said. And finally, on Thursday night into Friday, another storm will again “probably bring mainly rain” with a greater chance of snow to start the storm for inland areas.

Tewksbury Dog Rescued By Firefighters After Falling Through Ice

Tewksbury German Shepard had fallen through thin ice into frigid water.

Four legs or two legs, it doesn’t matter to Tom Ceres. The Wilmington Fire Department Lieutenant is making the rescue either way. For proof, look no further than Friday morning. Ceres and his fellow firefighters were called to Wild Ave. and Phillips Ave. near Silver Lake where a German Shepard had fallen through thin ice and was unable to pull himself onto solid ground. “He had his front half on the ice, but when he moved the ice would break,” said Ceres. “He knew he was in trouble.” So Ceres loaded an ice rescue sled into his pick up truck and was joined by two firefighters in wetsuits at the scene in addition to several other responding trucks. But the rescue workers didn’t need to enter the frigid water. Ceres tossed a grappling hook …

Winter Weather Update

Two to Four Inches of Snow Expected Tonight

Tewksbury could see as much as four inches of snow tonight - the most the town has seen since the bizarre Halloween Weekend storm.

It may have been an unseasonably warm winter so far - and it definitely wasn't a White Christmas - but snow is moving in tonight and Tewksbury will finally become a "winter wonderland." The National Weather Service predicts as much as two to four inches will stick to the ground starting around midnight and into tomorrow. Snow will fall again Saturday morning, as much as three to six inches thoughout the day that will accumulate and taper off around 5 p.m. Check back frequently to Tewksbury Patch for the latest cancellations and delays. Winter Weather Update

Wild Winter Winds Expected Today

Wind gusts of nearly 50 miles per hour could make conditions hazardous in Tewksbury.

Tewksbury residents are bracing themselves as strong winds are expected to whip through the region throughout Friday. The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for eastern Massachusetts Friday. A rainy and foggy morning is expected to give way to partly sunny skies in the afternoon, but don't let that fool you. That sunshine is also expected to be accompanied by winds of up to 25 miles per hour. And Friday night could be worse, with temperatures dropping below freezing -- turning the wet, puddled roads into ice -- and wind gusts of up to almost 50 miles per hour. In response to the chaos that the region endured after the October storm, National Grid is preparing for the possibility of widespread power outages that…
