(Editor's note: The following information was submitted by Paul Figucia, coach of The Tewksbury Girls U9-1 team.) The Tewksbury Girls U9-1 team a.k.a. The Little Lady Redmen participated in the Tosh Farrell Soccer Tourney in Amesbury. The team went undeated at 3-0-2. Being a true U9 team and having to play all U10 teams, that is quite an accomplishment. Great teamwork is the backbone of the team. It all starts with Goaltending and Defense on our team. Great job Little Lady Redmen.

(Editor's note: The following information was provided by the coaches and administrators of the Tewksbury Youth Soccer League.) BOYS BU9-2 Tewksbury 2 Somerville 1 The TYSL Boys U9-2 team beat a tough Somerville team 2-1 to move to 5-2-1 for the season. James Ministeri had another first half shut out and Mihir Bagul played solid as well allowing just 1 goad which came with less than 3 minutes remaining in the game. Both goal tenders were helped by a continuation of season-long solid defense effort from Cole Duffett, Owen Griffin, Conor Moynihan, Justin Murphy, and Benny Svendsen. Drew Timmons played a great all-around game with stifling defense and moving the ball well on offense. Lucas McFadyen scored early in the 2nd half to put the…

(Editor's note: The following information was submitted by the coaches and administrators of the Tewksbury Youth Soccer League.) GU13-1 Tewksbury 1 Melrose 0 Vying for their 7th shutout of the season the Girls U13-1 team had more to contend with then just a good opponent; they had Mother Nature’s early Noreaster to battle. The girls had to wait in the cold rain for almost an hour to start their game and by the time they took the pitch it was a mess, it was pouring, and it was very cold and windy. This didn’t’ stop the team from coming out strong and right away forwards Kayla Devlin, Kayla Makooi, and Karina Crowley began pounding shots at the Melrose keeper. Once again the shots seem to go everywhere but in the back of the net but …

(Editor's note: The following information was submitted by coaches and administrators of the Tewksbury Youth Soccer League.) BU13-1 Tewksbury 7 Burlington 0 The Tewksbury BU13-1 team beat Burlington 7-0 this Saturday. From the opening the Redmen pressed the play into the Burlington side. They moved well as a team and left little space for the opponents to move the ball. The back line stopped Burlington early in their attacks and pushed the ball quickly up-field. Five minutes in, a steal and then a long pass from Eric Gallant went down the sidelines to Ameen Kalkhoran who took it down the right side and scored from just outside the box. Tewksbury had the speed and aggressive style to keep the play out of our goal area. The boys were …

(Editor's note: The following information was submitted by the coaches and administrators of Tewksbury Youth Soccer.) GU14-1 The girls went into a tough week with two games in 36 hours after coming off a successful showing in North Andover over Columbus Day. Woburn-1 Tewksbury-0 The girls got to see what playing in the big leagues was all about as they played a Thursday Night game at 7:30 PM under the lights at Woburn High. This game had it all, the locals fought hard but could just not solve a very stingy Woburn defense. With Nicole Malfa out of action with injury and a new lineup on the field the defense never missed a beat. Michelle Farraher stepped in, Samantha Parker and Haley Pozzuto were rock solid and Sara …

GU12-5 Tewksbury 1 vs. Hanscom 3 Alexis Nichols scored the only Tewksbury goal with a great kick in the net after a beautiful pass from Madeline MacMullin that was right on target. Jordan Garber continued to show amazing hustle and broke up many Hanscom plays while Molly Hodgson and Madeline MacMullin were both outstanding in goal holding a tough Hanscom team to just 3 goals. Alyssa Theodos had a terrific offensive showing with multiple shots on goal and did a great job keeping the pressure on the Hanscom goalie. Many readers knew the mystery photo had something to do athletics but couldn't quite nail it down.
If there is a lesson to be learned from this week's "Where Is It?" mystery photo contest, it's that you need to actually open the article and look at the large version of the photo to have your best chance. Many readers knew that this week's photo had something to do with athletics. They figured out that the Red and Blue were certainly indicative of Tewksbury sports. However, we had guesses that included the high school gym, the East Street baseball field dugouts, the high school football field, the youth football field and the side of the equipment building at the Sal Frasca Soccer Complex. The reader who guessed the equipment building at the Sal Frasca Soccer Complex might kick themselves by the end of this article. Readers who opened up…
