Tewksbury officers get help from State Police and Billerica K9 in tracking down men who fled after traffic stop.
Two men will be arraigned in Lowell District Court Friday morning after leading police on a chase through swampy terrain off Whipple Road Thursday night. Justin Halloran, 30, and Alexander Sousa, 25, face multiple charges, including possession of Class D and Class C drugs, according to Tewskbury Police Lt. Scott Gaynor. The incident began just after 7:30 p.m., said Gaynor, when Det. Dennis Patterson spotted a vehicle being driven by Halloran. A records check indicated that Halloran was driving with a suspended license and Peterson, along with Officer Albert Piccolo, tried to pull the vehicle over near the Town Common. Lowell man is charged with aggravated assault and attempted murder.
UPDATED: Tuesday, 6 p.m. A 25-year-old Lowell man allegedly mocked his girlfriend as he choked her to the brink of unconsciousness Sunday morning in a Tewksbury motel. Hector Rivera was arraigned Monday in Lowell District Court on charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault and battery. According to a press release issued by Police Chief Timothy Sheehan, officers responded to the Motel Caswell after receiving a 911 call from a desk clerk. The employee told the officers he had heard screaming and crying coming from Room 252. When the officers entered the room, they found a female victim, "crying, shaking and, at first, unable to speak."
