Funland Incident Leaves Two Teens Injured; Eldery Woman Assaulted

The following information was supplied by the Tewksbury Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Two teens suffered injuries, one serious enough to require hospitalization, after an incident at the former Funland recreation center over the weekend. According to a Tewksbury Police report, a call came in just before 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, reporting yelling and screaming coming from the area of the batting cages of the Funland property on Route 38. Funland has been closed for several years. Officers responded to the scene and then called for medical assistance after finding three people at the scene, including two young people lying on the ground, bleeding. Tewksbury Man Charged With Assaulting Elderly Family Member

A Tewksbury man faces felony assault charges after allegedly injuring a family member during a domestic dispute Sunday afternoon (April 29). Tewksbury Police received a call just after 4:30 p.m. Sunday from a woman who said that a family member had shoved her out of the way and pushed his way into their home. She told police she wanted the man removed. A short time later, she called back and said the man had left and described the car he was driving. Officers responded to the scene and discovered the woman had suffered minor injuries. Another officer located and pulled over the car and, after a brief struggle, placed the driver under arrest. Bill, no one intends to drive drunk. My point being if the laws were much, much stiffer...then people would actually think twice about it. If not, then to bad for them. A slap on the wrist for killing someone becausee they didnt intend to drink and drive does no good for anyone. A local teen faces felony assault charges after allegedly attacking an elderly family member. Michael Romano, 81 Judique Road, is charged with assault and battery on a person 60-over or disabled. Police were called to 81 Judique Road on Sunday morning after receiving a call about the alleged attack. The original 911 call had been placed to the State Police and was transferred to Tewksbury Dispatch. Romano was scheduled to be arrainged Tuesday morning in Lowell District Court. Fire damages condo unit A Fairway Drive residence was left uninhabitable by a fire Sunday afternoon. Elderly Resident Allegedly Assaulted by Son

Tewksbury man arrested in connection with Quincy burglary.

A Billerica man is facing allegations that he assaulted his elderly father. Police responded to a call from a resident who said he had just been assaulted by his adult son. The alleged victim told officers that the man had just left in a gray Nissan SUV. Tewksbury officers called Billerica Police and informed them of the situation. Billerica Police located the man at his residence and detained him. Anthony J. Gird, 49, of 54 Allendale Ave., Billerica is charged with a assault and battery on a person aged 60 and over.
