In a rematch of last year’s Eastern Mass. Division 2 Semifinal, the Reading High Rockets got their revenge over Tewksbury with a 42-6 dismantling of the Redmen at Reading High last night. “We definitely had revenge on our mind this year and we were clicking on all cylinders,” said Reading quarterback Drew Belcher, whose incredible night led the Rockets to improve to 12-0 on the season. Belcher completed nine passes for 126 yards and a touchdown, and rushed nine times for 105 yards and four touchdowns. “We worked all offseason to come back and make it to this game,” said receiver Ryan Maney. “They pretty much beat our butt last year,” said the Gronk-like pass catcher who hauled in five catches for 87 yards and had a 61-yard rushing …

“Respect the ‘T,’” is the slogan that was echoed at Doucette Field on Saturday after Tewksbury High beat Dracut 35-21. Tewksbury ended its MVC Small schedule with a win that set their conference record for 2012 at a healthy 5-0. “Tremendous accomplishment,” said Tewksbury head coach Brian Aylward of the undefeated conference record. “It wasn’t an accomplishment that was done easily. This group has earned every yard that they’ve gotten this year and every win that they’ve gotten.” James Sullivan had a pair of touchdown runs in the win. For the second consecutive year, the Tewksbury High football team is champion of the Merrimack Valley Small Conference. Thanks to a 34-14 beat-down on Methuen Friday night, the Redmen improved to 5-4 overall and 4-0 in the MVC Small. “No one can take that away from you,” Aylward told his team. “But go and take this next game too." After facing Dracut next week and Wilmington on Thanksgiving, Tewksbury will represent their conference in postseason play. “We get the privilege to go and represent our league, but it’s also a responsibility,” said Tewksbury head coach Brian Aylward. The Tewksbury High offense exploded for 49 points in the biggest win of their season, a 49-42 barnburner against North Andover on Saturday at Doucette Field. Both teams came into the game with 2-0 records in the Merrimack Valley Small Conference. Tewksbury High scored all of its points in the second half as the Redmen trounced Lawrence 38-20, to celebrate Homecoming at Doucette Field on Saturday afternoon. Down 6-0 at the break, Eddie Matovu returned the second-half kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown to spark a Tewksbury squad that couldn’t get anything going in the first half. After Tom Casey’s two-point conversion, Lawrence fumbled the ensuing kickoff and the Redmen took over at the Lawrence 16. After their best offensive effort of the season, a 41-point outburst against Andover last week, Tewksbury High found the end zone only once in a 16-7 loss to Central Catholic last night at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Lawrence. “That was a frustrating one,” said Tewksbury head coach Brian Aylward. After slicing the Andover defense for six touchdowns last week, the Redmen offense left a lot to be desired against Central Catholic, who improved their record to 5-1. Tewksbury High had a chance to knock off an unbeaten team for the second week in a row, but fell short in a slugfest at Doucette Field, 51-42 to Andover. “I think that this is one that will go down as one of the all-time games,” said Redmen head coach Brian Aylward. Lowell High came into last night’s rain soaked tilt with Tewksbury High having scored 91 points in three consecutive wins. At Cawley Stadium, the Redmen defense held the vaunted Raiders to a big, fat zero, as the Redmen upset Lowell, 21-0. “We worked hard studying what they do, their formations and all of that,” said Tewksbury head coach Brian Aylward. “I thought we might have confused them a little bit." After rallying from an early deficit to take a fourth quarter lead, the Tewksbury High football committed three late turnovers, helping Billerica to a 34-26 victory on Saturday at Doucette Field. “We did some things to get back in the game and then we did some things to let them back in it,” said Redmen head coach Brian Aylward.
