Tewksbury High wrestler Chris London overcomes the odds and improves to 42-0 at MIAA All-State Meet.
For Tewksbury High superstar wrestler Chris London, the situation was something new, but the results were the same as it ever was. Suffering from a skin rash that could have cost him his opportunity to compete for an All-State championship, London shook off the rust from two weeks of inactivity and won two more matches on the biggest stage he’s ever competed on Friday, advancing to the semi-final round of the MIAA All-State Wrestling championships at Salem High School. London, who two weeks ago captured the MIAA Division 2 state championship at 170 pounds, was questionable even to participate in this weekend’s all-state meet after being diagnosed with a skin rash that could have resulted in an open wound had London gone through his normal…

Redmen beat the Red Raiders for the first time in over 20 years, take two of three at Shawsheen Quad
The last time a Tewksbury High wrestling team beat Lowel High in a dual meet, the seniors on this year's team were, well, still in their parents' future plans. It was 1989, according to coach Brian Aylward, so TMHS had gone almost 22 years since its last win over the perennial state powers from neighboring Lowell. Until Friday night. Sparked by masterful performances from Mike Davidian and Chris London, who both pinned their opponents in the first period, Tewksbury screamed out to a 39-6 lead over the shell-shocked Red Raiders, and cruised to a 42-30 win. Unfortunately, host Shawsheen Tech took some of the shine off TMHS' big win over Lowell by coming from behind to knock off Tewksbury in the second match of the night. The Redmen rebounded…

Despite getting five pins in the last six matches, Redmen come up just short
The defending state champion Lawrence High wrestling team has to be thankful that there are 14 weight classes contested in a high school wrestliing meet, not 15. Because if the hard-charging Tewksbury High Redmen had one more shot at it Wednesday night, they may well have pulled off a monumental upset of the visiting Lancers in a dual meet at the Wynn Middle School. Trailing by a margin of 30-3 after losing five of the first six matches, Tewksbury High roared back to win six of the final eight matches and fell a single point short, losing to Lawrence 36-35. Matt Greenwood, Brandon McCarthy, Dan Altavesta, Mike Davidian, Chris London and Derek Tarpey all contributed big wins when losing was not an option, and even though the Redmen suffered…

TMHS makes an opening day statement by topping Milford, Masconomet and Greater Lawrence.
It would have been understandable if the Tewksbury High wrestling team got off to a slow start this season. With the football season extending almost two weeks longer than usual and all the hype of a Super Bowl appearance keeping half the wrestling team's attention on the gridiron until this past Monday, there wasn't a whole lot of preparation time for Saturday's season-opening quad meet at Greater Lawrence Regional. But don't tell Milford High, Masconomet or Greater Lawrence that the Redmen were at a disadvantage. None of those teams want to listen to any excuses after Tewksbury High beat all comers and swept all three opponents, posting an impressive 3-0 dual meet record on opening day. "It was a great start," said TMHS coach Brian …
