UPDATE: Barricaded Suspect at Motel 6 In Custody

The stand-off with a regional SWAT team apparently ended quickly, but police are still on the scene handling the incident.

UPDATE: The man apprehended is wanted by Framingham Police in connection with a shooting in that town on Aug. 25, according to The Lowell Sun. (Editor's note: This article was updated on Sunday at 9:36 p.m.) A person barricaded in a room at the Motel 6 on Main Street in Tewksbury was quickly taken into custody on Sunday evening, according to reports. Public safety transmissions first reported around 7:40 p.m. that the NEMLEC SWAT team had responded to the motel at 95 Main St. for a person barricaded in a room. NEMLEC's official Twitter account tweeted, "Armed barricaded suspect at Motel 6, 95 Main St. Tewksbury surrenders to NEMLEC SWAT at 7:30 pm. Tewksbury Police take custody of suspect." Golf In The Parking Lot, Break-Ins On Astle Street

Two residents of Astle Street reported break-ins on their property on Sunday, Aug. 19. At 3:09 p.m., a homeowner called police to report hat someone had broken into his shed. He said the break-in occurred at sometime during ghe past week. The, at 10:19 p.m., a woman called 911 and said that she had her husband had just seen someone trying to break into their garage. She said it appeared to be two males. Tewksbury Police Officers responded to the scene, established a perimeter and did a comprehensive search of the area. Lowell Man Arrested For Attempted Murder After Stabbing At Motel

Victim is in stable condition after being stabbed in the chest.

A Lowell man is facing attempted murder charges after allegedly stabbing another man in the chest during an altercation in a local motel. Kendrick Sanders, 58, of 82 Gorham St., Lowell, was arrested by Tewksbury Police, who responded to a report of a stabbing at the Motel 6, 95 Main St. According to a Tewksbury Police report, Dispatch received a call from the desk clerk at the Motel 6, reporting that a man had come to the front desk and said  he had just been stabbed by a man in Room 107. As the desk clerk called police, the victim left the motel and disappeared. Police responded to Room 107, interviewed Sanders and found the knife allegedly used in the stabbing. Dracut Woman Robs From Register At IHop

A Dracut woman is facing charges after allegedly doing a lot worse than just leaving a local restaurant without paying her bill. According to a Tewksbury Police report, officers were called to the IHop restaurant at 85 Main St. on Tuesday (March 6) for the report of a theft. A restaurant employee told officers that a woman staying at the nearby Motel 6 had reached around and stolen an undetermined amount of cash from the register and then grabbed her takeout order and left. Officers tracked the women to her room at the Motel 6 and placed her under arrest. Donna Cloutier, 43, 92 Dracut St., Dracut, is charged with theft from a building. Shoplifter Slips A Tackle, Thief Steals From Washing Machine

A shoplifter with the skills of a running back managed to slip away from Home Depot security, Sunday evening. Around 6:30 p.m., Tewksbury Police received a call from loss prevention at Home Depot, reporting that they had tackled a man trying to steal a drill. However, the man managed to elude their grasp and ran out of the store. A short time later, a woman called 911 and reported that she saw the suspect running toward Motel 6. A sergeant then spoke to a witness who said they saw the suspect get into a green Stratus or Neon and flee the scene. The witness was unable to provide a license plate number. Man Accused Of Assault With Antique Muzzle-Loader

Fight at Motel 6 leads to two arrests.

An early morning fight at Motel 6 featuring a knife and an antique gun resulted in the arrests of two men. Shane Perry, 24, of 1531 State Route 492, New Milford, Pa. and Clyde Carmant, 20, of 6 Driftwood Ln., Billerica, were arrested by officers of the Tewksbury Police Department, who were called to the motel just before 2 a.m. after receiving calls about "a large fight," possibly involving a knife. As officers arrived, a dark colored Acura took off out of the parking lot of the motel heading toward the center of Tewksbury. There were multiple people in the vehicle. Lowell Man Charged With Kidnapping, Assault

A Lowell man is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly holding a woman against her will and assaulting her in a Tewksbury motel. Cory Convey, 25, of 82 Walker St., was arrested at 5 a.m. Tuesday at Motel 6 and was charged with assault and battery, kidnapping, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and intimidating a witness. According to the police report, the incident began when a clerk from Motel 6 called, saying he had received a call from Room 218. According to the clerk, it sounded like a female was calling for help, but that a hand or something else was covering her mouth, muffling her voice. Arlington Man Nabbed With Keys To A Stolen Car

A car stolen out of Billerica was tracked down by Tewksbury Police to the parking lot of Motel 6 at 95 Main St. on Monday. According to the police report, Officer Alysia Russo located the vehicle just before 10 a.m. Further investigation connected the car to a man with three outstanding warrants, who was staying in Room 133 of the motel. The officer located the suspect, Derek Colamartino, and found that he had the keys to the stolen car in his possession. Colamartino, 21, of 51 Eppping St., Arlington, was arrested on the three outstanding warrants and was charged with receiving a stolen motor vehicle. The investigation is ongoing. Three Men Arrested In Violent Home Invasion

Victim beaten, $20,000 stolen in Motel 6 Incident

Three men are in custody facing multiple felony charges, after a brutal armed robbery/home invasion on Thursday. Brandon Dorrington 24 of 45 Bowler St., Lynn, Jared Dorrington, 18, of 9 Sterling Place, Chelmsford and Brady Yanosick, 18, of 4 Riverhurst Road Apt. 235, Billerica, were arrested Saturday at their residences by detectives from the Tewksbury Criminal Bureau, according to Chief Timothy Sheehan. "My detectives worked round the clock to bring these perpetrators to justice," said Sheehan. "I am very proud of their commitment to their community and the law enforcement profession. South Dakota Woman Arraigned on 18 Counts of Animal Cruelty

Chief Sheehan: This is the worst case of animal cruelty that I can remember in my 25 year career in law enforcement!

A South Dakota woman with a history of animal abuse was arraigned in Lowell District Court Wednesday on 18 counts of animal cruelty. Margaret Nickerson-Malpher, 71, was arrested Tuesday by Tewksbuy Police after allegedly leaving 15 dogs and three cats in a van for more than five hours during the heat of the day after having checked into Motel 6. The situation was originally noticed by other guests at the motel, who notified staff who, in turn, notified police. One of the dogs died as the result of dehydration. Three others were in critical condition and were taken to the Angel Animal Hospital in Boston for treatment.
