A 61-year-old Tewksbury man has died from injuries sustained when he was struck by a car while walking on Salem Road near the Wilmington town line Tuesday evening. Terence Morrissey died Friday at the Boston Medical Center, according to obituary information provided by the Tewksbury Funeral Home. Morrissey sustained traumatic injuries when he was struck by the vehicle while crossing the road near his County Road home at around 6:30 p.m. The impact of the vehicle caused him to flip up over the front of the car, smashing the windshield and damaging the hood before being thrown to the pavement. The male pedestrian has a serious head injury, according to reports.
A male pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Salem Road, near its intersection with County Road, just shy of the Wilmington line, at about 6:45 p.m. this evening, according to reports. According to a Wilmington Police officer at the scene, the driver hit the man, continued about 50 yards and stopped. The male sustained a serious head injury as a result of the accident, and a medflight was requested, the reports stated. At about 7 p.m., the male was being transported to the helicopter, which landed at the parking lot of the former Rite Aid on Main Street. He was flown to a Boston hospital for treatment.
