Redmen Roundup: Softball Team Outslugs Lions, Track Teams Stay Perfect

Girls Lacrosse team comes up short against Chelmsford.

Softball Tewksbury 9, Chelmsford 8 A win is a win is a win. It wasn't a work of art but it was a thriller. The Redmen rallied from an 8-6 deficit in the bottom of the seventh inning to pull out a stunning 9-8 win over Chelmsford (7-4). Meaghan McLaughlin was the centerpiece of the game-winning rally. McLaughlin drilled a two-run triple to drive home a a pair of runs to tied the game. That set the stage for Brooke Hardy, who plated McLaughlin with a walk-off single to end the game. Missy Cordwell had three hits, including a home run, to pace the Redmen attack. Hardy also had three hits. Erin Walsh and Tiffanie Marsh added two hits apiece.  Shannon McLaughlin went the distance in the circle to pick up the win. With the civtory, the Redmen …

Redmen Roundup: Girls Track 2nd At State Relays, Softball Team Romps

Boys LAX team stays hot with sixth win of the year.

Girls Track Redmen claim three state titles at Division 2 State Relays Freshmen Ashley Colarusso and Jess Ripley and senior Devin Kelly are Tewksbury High's newest State Champs! The trio combined to take first place in the pole vault at the recent Division 2 State Relays. As a team, Tewksbury High placed second with 46 points. Central Catholic placed first overall with 50 points. The team of Colarusso, Ripley and Kelly combind for a total distance of 22 feet  6 inches. The javeline team of Chelsee Porcaro, Molly Robertson, Sara Semenza and the sprint medley relay team of Sara Semenza , Jen Schultz , Christine Baptiste, and Kelly Quigley also earned state championships at the Division 2 State Relays. Redmen Roundup: Bats Fall Silent For Baseball, Softball Teams

Half not good enough for boys lacrosse team in loss to Billerica.

Softball Haverhill 2, Tewksbury 1 Shannon McLaughlin continued her outstanding in the circle for Tewksbury, tossing a two-hitter, while striking out nine and not allowing an earned run. But defense and hitting were the downfall for the Redmen in a 2-1 loss to Haverhill. Defensive miscues led to a pair of unearned runs and the only offense came off the bat of Brooke Hardy, who cracked a solo home run. With the loss, Tewksbury drops to 4-2. Boys Lacrosse Billerica 14, Tewksbury 5 For one half, Tewksbury held the Billerica offense in check and built a 30-1 lead. Redmen Roundup: Sullivan's Late Goal Lifts Boys Lacrosse To Victory

Softball team improves to 3-1, baseball team drops another heartbreaker.

Boys Lacrosse Tewksbury 7, Groton-Dunstable 6 Timing is everything and James Sullivan's couldn't have been any better. Sullivan scored his only goal of the game with under a minute to play in regulation to give Tewksbury High a thrilling, 7-6 win over Groton-Dunstable. Zach Jacobs paced the Redmen offense with four goals. Tim Donovan and Johnny Aylward added the other tallies for the winners. Mike Brawley turned in another strong game in net with 13 saves. With the victory, Tewksbury improved to 4-2 on the young season. Baseball Methuen 3, Tewksbury 2 Two games, three runs scored, two tough losses. Redmen Roundup: McLaughlin Leads Softball Team Over Andover

Softball Tewksbury 11, Andover 0 She's back and she hasn't missed a beat. Shannon McLaughlin, who missed a good portion of last season due to injury, showed know lingering effects, as she tossed a brilliant one-hitter to lead Tewksbury past Andover High, 11-0, in the season=opener. McLaughlin was nearly flawless. She fanned seven and didn't walk a batter. Meanwhile, some familiar faces paced the Redmen offense. Junior second baseman Brooke Hardy picked right up where she left off last season, ripping three hits. Sam LaFerriere added a pair of hits and two RBI. Redmen Roundup: Tewksbury Sweeps Methuen In Track Openers

Redmen runners start the spring season with a sweep.

Boys Track Tewksbury 81.5 - Methuen 54.5 The Redmen came racing out of the gates, led by Cory Cataldo, who won the 400 intermediate hurdles and triple jump and placed second in the long jump. The Redmen throwers also had an excellent day, sweeping the javelin and the discus and taking second and third in the shot. John Fiorello led the way, winning the javelin and placing second in the discus. "Overall great meet, I knew Methuen had a great distance crew, but we did not know how we matched up everywhere else," said TMHS Coach Bill Meuse. TMHS Girls Hockey Stomps Nowell, 10-3, In Playoff Debut

If the Tewksbury/Methuen girls hockey team was feeling any jitters heading into their first-ever playoff game, they did an awfully good job of hiding it. The Red Rangers, laid waste to Norwell High, 10-3, in the preliminary round of the Division 2 North Tournament. Sophomore Amanda Conway and 7th Grader Kelly Golini led the Red Rangers offense, as they have throughout the year. Conway scored four more goals, giving her 48 on the season. Golini notched a hat trick and added a pair of assists. Tewksbury/Methuen came into the game as the No. 20 seed in the 22-team tournament. But they played like anything but a lower seed, as they skated circles around No. 13 Norwell from the opening puck-drop. With the win, Tewksbury/Methuen (9-7-3) moves on…

Redmen Roundup: Girls Hockey Clubs C-C, Clinches Tournament Berth

Boys basketball destroys Wilmington, 80-37.

Girls Hockey Tewksbury/Methuen 5, Concord-Carlisle 1 First time was the charm for the Tewksbury/Metheun girls hockey team. The Red Rangers are headed to the State Tournament in their very first varsity season after dominating Concord-Carlisle, 5-1 on Tuesday. They wrapped up the regular season at 8-7-3. Sophomore Amanda Conway put an exclamation point on her season with yet another hat trick, giving her 44 goals on the year. 7th Grader Kelly Golini chipped in with two more goals. Taylor Lirakis turned in an outstanding game in net, making 29 saves. Boys Basketball Tewksbury 80, Wilmington 37 Five players scored in double-digits, as the Redmen destroyed Wilmington on Tuesday. Redmen Roundup: Redmen Claim MVC/DCL Hockey Title

Girls Basketball falls in final of Spartan Classic.

Boys Hockey Tewksbury 3, Lincoln-Sudbury 2 If teams make the mistake of thinking they can shut down the Redmen by shutting down the Petti Brothers, Tyler Slavin is more than happy to set them straight. On Monday, Slavin scored a pair of goals to lead Tewksbury to a 3-2 win over Lincolcn-Sudbury. The win clinched the MVC/DCL D-2 Championship for the Redmen. Slavin's second goal game with just 16 seconds left in regulation to snap a 2-2 tie. Dario Riparo scored Tewksbury's first goal of the game. Pat Doherty, Derek Petti, Matt Donovan, Ryan Petti and Michael Casey had assists the Redmen. Kyle Paquette earned the win in net with 15 saves.
