Redmen Roundup: Semenza Sisters Lead Girls' Hoops Past Dracut

Boys' Basketball earns much-needed win over Middies.

Girls Basketball Tewksbury 66, Dracut 53 The Semenza sisters came up huge for the Tewksbury High girls basketball team, leading the Redmen over Dracut, 66-53. Shannon Semenza led the way for Tewskbury with a game-high 17 points. Sarah Semenza and Chelsee Porcaro added 12 points each for the Redmen. Boys Basketball Tewksbury 56, Dracut 36 The Redmen earned a "must" win in their quest for a berth in the State Tournament, 56-36 over Dracut. Tewksbury used a smothering defense to snap a six-game losing streak and improve to 5-8 on the season. Junior Kevin Dick led the way for the Redmen with a game-high 17 points. Sophomore Alex DiRocco dropped in 15.

Tewksbury Girls Come Up Short Against Central

TMHS girls basketball team drops a 48-29 decision to Central Catholic on Opening Night.

It could have been worse. Much worse. Last year, when Tewksbury and Central Catholic met in early December, the Red Raiders rolled to a 42-point victory. That 71-29 loss sent Tewksbury into an early-season tailspin. On Monday night, Tewksbury High could again muster only 29 points against the Red Raiders, but this time the Redmen held Central to a more respectable 48 points, and walked away with their heads held high. "We worked hard," said TMHS coach Mark Bradley. "Based on what I saw I think we've got a lot of things to look forward to, and I think we have to clean up a lot of things offensively. But our zone defense we worked on slowed them down. I'm happy with the way the girls worked." Tewksbury seemed to have a case of the opening …
