My feelings exactly. I understand that the money to build a turf and the money to keep the fire station open are 2 entirely different things (apples and oranges as someone above said). However what I find CONCERNING is how this issues shows that if the town officials REALLY want something, they will fight to find creative ways to come up with money that was previously said to not be there, and make it happen. Great, valiant effort, but how about we get our priorities straight and push for something that matters a bit more, like basic public safety? It just makes you wonder if they put this much effort into finding funding and solutions for the South Street fire station what could ultimately be accomplished.

Somewhat agree with you. The effort and message are of course great, but I clearly remember when they did this almost 10 years ago when I was a senior and I personally wasn't really affected by it. I remember it was 'entertaining' to see your peers act it out, and it was pretty cool to see how the jaws of life are used, but not many seemed to find it scary or realistic.
I can't remember if it was this same day or in a different presentation, but one time they brought in the parents of a teen who was ACTUALLY killed in a drunk driving accident a few years before. I feel like that had a much greater impact because you knew they WEREN'T actors, it wasn't a hypothetical situation, and you couldn't help but start to imagine if it were your parents whose door the police had to knock on and give that message to. The couple was very somber and realistic telling their story, tears were shed, and I think a lot of us were sitting there as kids like "damn, that can really happen".
