On the article Rep. Miceli Weighs in On Fire Department Budget at Town Meeting

ReplySelectman Sears, Doug, Red...all of the above, below, the same or different,
As a outsider to this argument or one who does not have a dog in this fight, I was opposed to how the Fire Department went about solving this issue.
The open town meeting is archaic, ancient, and medieval as a model of government that has no place in today's society. Whoever said it is the "purest for of democracy" has a Neanderthal mind who cannot let go of the past. The Fire Department proved that by forging a "special interest" to dictate terms to the majority. Yes, the minority trumps the majority in this for of government.
However, in all of Doug and Red's childish rants and raves, I find myself being pushed to actually believing the Fire Department' position and now supporting their budget. So Doug and or Red, if you truly believe that you are right, maybe it is time you stop jawing your rhetoric, not only are you NOT helping your cause, you have actually begun to help the other side.
Please look at my past posts. I was on your side. Now? Not so much. Good luck and be safe to all of our Fire Fighters.

On the article Tewksbury Annual Town Meeting Approves Additional $351,000 For Fire Department Budget

John Smith - Tewksbury Fireman,
"town manager sneakingly told the other dept heads that if money was put in the fire budget it could affect their budgets. It was a ploy to get votes in his favor and it worked."
Standing behind my own name, i am calling you out as a liar. You are stating falsifications, spreading discontent, and willfully denigrating the character of the Town Manager. If your contract has a clause that states, "conduct unbecoming of a town public safety officer" , you should be terminated from the fire department. You have no integrity, honor, or morals. You made the allegation. I am sure you have actual proof. It would go along way toward rehabilitating yourself by presenting it in a public forum. I will hold off on judgement giving you the opportunity to present your proof.

John Smith,
Please stop. Now TFD is an advocate for the elderly and do more than the Senior Center? Are you kidding me? What is your job? Do you get paid to answer calls for emergency services? And now you do more than the Senior Center? Since you have stated you have courage, time to pick up your ball and go home, you won. To keep commenting in here is poor sportsmanship. You won the battle and now want to rub the taxpayers's nose in it. Maybe it is time that TFD shows some class. And the name is Cecillone Moore. Sorry that I confused you by shortening my first name.

John Smith,
It is obvious that you have an agenda as your are a fire person hiding behind a pseudo name. To call someone out as a liar is a very serious accusation. I know I am dating myself, but in my younger days it took a real man to do that because there was no hiding behind words typing from the safety of your castle. It is a shame that the integrity of a person has been lost as you exemplify it with your cowardness. I don't find Selectman Wilson's words to be a lie. We still have a fire department, which I can only assume is competent, though judging by the how they look in uniform, I would be worried that they could physically perform what may be required. You want to argue response times and safety?. Lets put a fire station on every corner. Why don't we have 10 stations in town? Because life is about cost vs. benefits and risk vs. rewards. The town is safe and has been for the last 6 years. For you to tout that as a reason to fund your 10% raise is a lie. Now that each fire person has received an $8,500 increase in OT benefits, maybe you should repay the town by preparing your bodies for work, presenting a professional fire presence, and keeping your equipment clean. All three areas are lacking. You bullied the town for your raise but the cost to your profession cannot be measured in dollars.

In 67 years I have had two dealings with the police department. The first was when an officer knocked on my door to notify me of a family death in another state. The second was when they gave my neighborhood a courtesy call to remind us to lock our doors at night because there where breaks occurring in the area. I have found them to be professional, courteous, respectful and the pride of our community. I believe in life you reap what you sow. You get what you deserve. I don't know about your interactions with the police department but reading what you posted, it sounds like you are getting exactly what you deserve . Instead of trying to litigate your way to getting money, maybe you should try to work for it and earn it. It is much more satisfying lad. You will also find that in hard work there is little time to be interacting negatively with the police department. Good luck with your lawsuit. You are going to need it.

JL,
I actually had some empathy and felt the compassion in your words. Then you blew it all to crap and denigrated your credibility with calling TPD stupid. It sounds like you have dealt with TPD before? Did you know that 5% of the population consumes 95% of the police department's time. It is time for this drunk driver to stop that trend. And the only way this will happen if she is found guilty and sentenced to a long stint in prison. God only helps those who help themselves. Disease or not, I don't see any cancer patients continuing make their cancer worse by controllable actions. The system has not failed her...she has failed herself.

Who me,
Sorry for the misunderstanding. You are absolutely correct. I believe a committee worked on that idea for many months. The final document was actually a fine proposal with a lot of good legislative direction. It was soundly defeated at the Town Meeting. As I was sitting in the voting crowd, I hear a woman behind me whisper to someone, "I don't know what it is but I was told to vote it down". That very much depressed me for the evening. I am very confident in saying that less than 5% of those in attendance even knew what they were voting on and did not read the proposal, nor do they read the articles. The field will pass, just like the sewer, and the only ones to be blamed, is that person staring back in the mirror. Who me...please enjoy your evening.
God bless,
C

Selectman Sears,
As I reflect back on my youth and upbringing, I didn't always listen to my father. When I look back, I wish that I had more often. In this case I will respectfully implement his advice to me. "Never argue with a fool; onlookers may not be able to tell the difference." He was quoting his favorite author, Mark Twain.
God Bless,
