ReplyPersonally I think that space could have been put to a better use. Does not look like it is a good setup for a walk in care, never mind the parking situation. Who approved that?

JL, The system continues to fail her? What is she trying to get from the system that keeps failing? Has she tried attending AA? Yes, Alcoholism is a horrible disease, it not only affects the individual, but all others in the circle, be it family or friends, but it is not an unbeatable disease. Once she hits rock bottom (sounds like she is getting close) she will realize there is no where else to go but up. Enabling does not help, and unfortunately sometimes it takes tough love to make an alcoholic realize that the help has to start with them admitting to the problem, that is the first step to getting help. Hopefully she can try and start helping herself if the system continues to fail her, and start attending AA. I know it's easier said than done, and your probably stuck in a hard place. Hoping things get better for you all.

ReplyWhat is the sense of voting if our votes don't count? Something doesn't sound right.....

Thanks David, but according to the Special Town Meeting Warrant on the Tewksbury Town Website, it looks like it is still in there. http://www.tewksbury.net/Pages/TewksburyMA_Warrants/2013/STM%205-8-13.pdf

ReplyI say we vote NO on Article #4 at the upcoming Special Town meeting to be held this coming Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at the Tewksbury Memorial High School, at 7:00 PM. This Article is "To see if the Town will vote to transfer from the Stabilization Fund the sum of $400,000 to be expended by the Town Manager for the cost of constructing an all purpose artificial turf field at the Tewksbury Memorial High School including the payment of all costs incidental and related thereto." Why can't we transfer this money to the Fire Department and stabilize in keeping the Fire Station open year round? I suggest setting up a special donation fund to support the field project and ask for donations, and volunteers to create this field. $400,000 is a ton of tax payers dollars to spend on this effort, especially when it comes to interfering with the Safety of the people in this town.

I could not agree with you more John. Those four departments should be our highest priority. Lord forbid our Town gets sued over safety/hazard issues that could have been avoided if they close down a station for 6 months. I pray nothing misfortunate happens if they choose to go this route.

Thank you "Who Me?" for being honest and supplying that information. I would like to see more awareness of town meetings where they are voting on these projects to get them passed. For some reason I think the only voters that are aware of these meetings are the people that want these projects passed. If I am wrong, please tell me how I can get notifications on these meetings, so I can be present to vote at them in the future. Maybe communicating the meeting on the Public Library's sign, so all can see? Not everyone has a computer, and since we don't get the written notifications via postal mail anymore, it's hard to keep up with what's happening.
