For some reason the first two links are not working when you click on them from the post above but if you go to the third one which IS working and will take you directly to the main TRT Forum on TewksburyIssues, just scroll down to the "Tewksbury Rail Trails Facebook Page" Topic, click on THAT and the other two links are posted within and WILL work from THERE.

ReplyThe monies are to hire a professional on such matters who will do a feasibility and research study to determine what the Town's options could potentially be. Some of these overgrown RR beds border properties at this point and research would need to be done re. ownership, etc. For a map you can check this link:

On the article 'Ayes' For Turf Field, Rail Trail at Tewksbury Town Meeting

It is not being used for the turf field itself, rather the drainage costs and other related aspects of the project. The turf cost is supposedly being covered by a combination of the PARC grant, some offset costs from the HS project and funds raised by the FOTAC group.

It says in the above article it includes a track...whether or not that will be made available for community use is another story that remains to be seen. I get the feeling that this field is going to be under the tight control of those who pushed for it. As I understand it the CPA funds cannot be used for the turf nor installation but will be used for everything else. While the funds are there, I feel the amended $600,000 is a huge amount and a substantial increase. I am glad the Rail Trails article passed as I believe it is a good use of CPA funds as well as a good project initiated by ordinary citizens that will benefit ALL ages and the entire community. I am not in favor of the field which to me only benefits a small segment of the general populace while eating up a large portion of CPA funds.

ReplyWell said, Malcolm. I think it's great to see the signs that have been recently posted around Town as reminders. No date (just THIS week on them) so they will be re-usable for years to come. Good idea for reaching out to the Community that I hope will make a difference in what they take in this Saturday!

Does anyone have an update as to how well the response went to last Saturday's postal carrier food pantry drive? I am curious if it was successful....sure hope so!
