Right on! Tax increases and decreases have a much stronger multiplier effect than spending cuts and increases.

ReplyGreat article, Don. I know it is tough for some veterans to discuss wartime, but your approach to opening the conversation will be very helpful for many. I have known, and even lived with veterans in my life and consider those individuals to be heroes.
If an alteration in our attitudes toward heroes and successful people shift, our society will be better off because of it. Many (not all) war protesters DO come off as being anti-troops and veterans. The expression "being rich" sounds like an insult today. And our society focuses on tragedy and travesty far more than it does achievement and inspiration.

ReplyShould government run school systems devote resources paid for by tax dollars to sponsor things like dances? There is a clear demand for dances in town, why not let private industry do these things? Instead of the outrage directed at bureaucrats like John Weir, the way to protest would be to simply stop patronizing the dances. Merrimack Valley Pavilion just opened and seems to be operated by townies, what a perfect way for them to launch their business.
In how many other schools does the principal choose dance themes?
How does one draw the line between standing up for what you want and believe in, and being disrespectful to authority?

Dan and Ron, I totally agree. For the republicans I also think of Jeb and George P. Bush (wouldn't that be interesting?). And for the Democrats, I would love to see Tammy Duckworth, Jim Webb, and Joe Manchin. I hope all of the candidates throw their hat in. 2016 could be an exciting primary season. I would love to see Christie and Condi debate. It would be awesome.

Well Don, we disagree. But I appreciate our disagreement. Your posts spark important discussion. You keep posting, and I will keep throwing my crazy Libertarian stuff in there. Who knows, one of these days you may talk about how taxes are too high, and we'll be best friends that day.

I get what you're saying, and I agree on certain levels. What I am saying is that I have no business deciding for someone else if they choose this option. That decision should be made between the patient and his/her family.
