Movie Night: A Place At The Table (Food Pantry Benefit)

About The Event: Attend a screening of A Place At The Table, a new documentary that shines a light on the nearly 50 million Americans who struggle with food insecurity and hunger.  The library will not be serving pizza or snacks as it typically does during its movie nights.  Instead, the library is requesting that moviegoers bring nonpershiable food items to be donated to the Tewksbury Food Pantry.

About The Film: One in four American children don't know where their next meal is coming from, despite our having the means to provide nutritious, affordable food for all Americas.  Directors Kristi Jacobson and Lori Silverbush examine this issue through the lens of three people who are struggling with food insecurity: Barbie, a single Philadelphia mother who grew up in poverty and is trying to provide a better life for her two kids; Rosie, a Colorado fifth-grader who often has to depend on friends and neighbors to feed her and has trouble concentrating in school; and Tremonica, a Mississippi second-grader whose asthma and health issues are exacerbated by the largely empty calories her hardworking mother can afford.  Rated PG for thematic elements and brief mild language. 84 minutes.

Limited to 75 seats.  Co-sponsored by the Friends of the Library and the Lions Club.
