One Direction Party For Teens

On Thursday, February 21, from 3:30pm to 5pm, the library will be hosting a One Direction celebration for teen fans of the musical group!  The party will include “boy band bingo,” a trivia contest and a craft.  Spots are expected to fill up for this February vacation teen event!  Please register by visiting the library’s online calendar of events (www.tewksburypl.org) or calling the library at 978-640-4490.

Join Jerry Selissen, Hanscom Air Force Base retiree and former Tewksbury Selectman, as he explores the history of Air Force One in a slideshow just in time for Presidents Day!  Doors open at 10am for coffee and socializing.  Limited to 100 seats.

Saturday, February 16, 2pm -- Author Visit: The Pilots’ Guide to the Airports of Historic Massachusetts with John Fiske (RR)

Meet author John Fiske as he discusses his latest book: The Pilot’s Guide to the Airports of Historic Massachusetts, including some talk about Tewksbury’s very own Tew-Mac airport.  Book signing held after talk.  Limited to 100 seats.

Thursday, February 21, 2pm-3:30pm -- Technology Trainings: Facebook 101 (RR)

Learn the basics of Facebook in this hands-on workshop for beginners.  Each participant will leave the class having set-up their very own Facebook account while developing an appreciation for the ways in which this popular social network can be useful in their everyday life!  Participants should come to class with their email address written down on a piece of paper.  Limited to 10 seats.

Monday, February 25, 7pm -- Author Visit: Your Natural Medicine Cabinet with Burke Lennihan (RR)

Meet author Burke Lennihan as she discusses her new book: Your Natural Medicine Cabinet: A Practical Guide To Drug-Free Remedies For Common ailments, focusing in particular on natural remedies for colds and flus.  Book signing held after talk.  Limited to 100 seats.

Tuesday, February 26, 7pm -- Community Conversations: Using Books To Discuss Loss & Grief with Children with Cheryl Amari (RR)

The library addresses the topic of talking to children about loss and grief with a presentation from Cheryl Amari, founder and owner of the Tewksbury-based GriefTeach.  Learn what to say to a child when a personal (e.g., death of a family member) or public (e.g., Sandy Hook Shooting) tragedy occurs.  Limited to 100 seats.

Drop in to hear stories, sing songs and play some games.  Don’t forget to wear your pajamas!  For kids 3 to 7, along with their parents/caregivers!

Thursday, February 14, 10:15am AND 11am -- Wiggle Time (DI)

Come on down to our 30 minutes session of songs, stories, instruments, dancing and more.  Get those early literacy skills working now!  For 2 years olds.  Children ages 18 to 23 months are also welcome to join us.  Older and younger siblings are also always welcome.

Thursday, February 14, 3:45pm -- Read To Me Book & Craft Club (RR)

Come have fun while making a craft and eating snacks at the Read To Me Book & Craft Club!  We all read the same book before we meet and then we talk about it while snacking.  Afterwards, we make a craft based on the book.  Don’t forget to pick up a copy of the book at the Children’s Desk to read before the meeting.  Limited to 15.  Registration is required and begins on February 5.  For students in K to Grade 3.

Drop in to the Craft Room in the Children’s Department to make a craft!  For kids of all ages.

Tuesday, February 19, 2pm -- Bullyproofing (RR)

Join Mr. Garofano from ATA Martial Arts Academy with this BRAND NEW program showing how to not only avoid becoming a victim, but how to deal with being a bystander and how to help your friends who are being bullied.  Call 978-640-4496 to register beginning February 11.  For ages 5 and up and their parents.

Wednesday, February 20, 11am -- Airplane Day (DI)

Come by to make a few different types of paper airplanes and then fly them in our giant Meeting Room.  You can also play Pin the Propeller on the Airplane and take photos with our airplane cutout!  For ages 5 and up.

Thursday, February 21, 11am -- Sock Hop Party (DI)

Drop in, take off your shoes, and join our Sock Hop!  We’ll be dancing up a storm and have a sock throwing game.  For ages 5 and up.

Friday, February 22, 10am-5pm -- Stuffed Animal Sleepover (DI)

Bring your favorite stuff animal to the Library to sleepover for the night!  Then come to the Library on Saturday to pick up your stuffed friend.  We’ll post pictures and videos of what your animal got up to overnight.  This sleepover is for the animals ONLY.  No children are allowed to stay over at th library.  Bring your animal by to sleepover by 5pm on Friday, February 22.
